Can you use a lithium 12volt deep cycle to power this?
Answer: Sure... but as with any battery, it comes down to how many amp hours your battery can deliver ... bigger is better. I’ve got mine running off a car battery and 15 watt solar panel w a cheap $12 charge controller. Typically this setup keeps up with the fence... it runs all night and is still going in the morning before the solar panel kicks in. Occasionally, in the colder weather I’ll need to fully charge the battery on my bench. -

Does this make a noise? I'm wanting a silent device.
Answer: Yes, this unit makes a small clicking noise. All pulsing electric fence chargers make a clicking noise each time they pulse. -

How is it powered?
Answer: It is powered by a deep cycle battery that is not included. -

What kind of battery is needed for this?
Answer: A deep cycle 12 volt battery is the best but a regular car battery will work as well. The battery should last about a month before it will need to be recharged back up. -

Do you think this would deter rats in a garden who would be touching concrete and the wire as they cross the stone wall to get to the corn?
Answer: My husband installed the wires lower to deter rodents and other small creatures who might be hanging around our raised beds. We had two wires running around the beds-the lower one and one a bit higher so the deer would be discouraged. Seemed to work well as we had a great harvest. I think it’s worth a try. -

How many amp hours does this charger consume?
Answer: A car battery will last for more than a month even and small car battery works good. -

Answer: If the fence is installed correctly, this charger can work for goats in a small area. -

Answer: Hi. Yes you need to use some type 12 volt battery. -

Answer: If the bear is hungry, or particularly aggressive, this would probably not be enough power. This is more suited to keeping pets and grazing animals out of gardens.
