What are TCMT Forward Controls Pegs Levers Linkage?

TCMT Forward Controls Pegs Levers Linkage are aftermarket motorcycle components designed to enhance riding comfort and control for Harley Sportster models, specifically the 1200 and 883 XL Iron from 2004 to 2013. These components allow the rider to position the footpegs further forward, promoting a more relaxed riding posture. This modification is particularly beneficial for long rides, as it can alleviate strain on the legs. Additionally, the enhanced lever linkage improves throttle and brake response, ensuring a smooth ride.

Will these forward controls fit my Harley Sportster?

Yes, TCMT Forward Controls Pegs Levers Linkage are specifically designed to fit Harley Sportster 1200 and 883 XL Iron models from 2004 to 2013. Before purchasing, it’s important to check your bike’s model specifications to ensure compatibility. Proper installation provides a more comfortable foot position, which can significantly enhance the riding experience, especially on extended journeys where comfort becomes increasingly essential.

How do I install TCMT Forward Controls?

Installing TCMT Forward Controls involves a few steps that include removing the existing footpegs and controls, aligning the new components with the motorcycle frame, and securing them tightly. A basic toolkit is required, and having a service manual for your bike can be extremely helpful during installation. The new controls allow for a more stretched-out seating position, providing better comfort for riders who prefer a relaxed posture on long trips.

What materials are these forward controls made from?

TCMT Forward Controls Pegs Levers Linkage are typically made from high-quality aluminum and steel, ensuring durability and resilience against wear and tear. This robust construction helps withstand the rigors of riding while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Riders can enjoy not only improved functionality but also the stylish looks that these components add to their Harley Sportster.

Do these controls provide a better riding posture?

Absolutely! TCMT Forward Controls offer a repositioning of the footpegs that promotes a more ergonomic riding posture. This feature is particularly beneficial for taller riders or those who prefer a relaxed foot position. Riding in a comfortable posture can reduce fatigue during long rides, allowing you to enjoy the road with minimized discomfort.

Can I adjust the height of the footpegs with TCMT Forward Controls?

While TCMT Forward Controls allow for the footpegs to be positioned forward, they typically do not offer height adjustment. However, the forward positioning can contribute to a more comfortable and natural leg position that suits different riding styles. If you require specific height adjustments, consider exploring additional options in footpeg configurations available for Harley Sportsters.

Are these controls suitable for all riding styles?

Yes, TCMT Forward Controls are versatile and can accommodate various riding styles, including cruising and touring. The forward placement of the controls is beneficial for riders who prefer a laid-back riding posture, which is popular among long-distance riders. Whether you’re commuting or hitting the open road for a weekend trip, these controls can enhance your overall riding experience.

How do I maintain the TCMT Forward Controls?

Maintaining TCMT Forward Controls is straightforward and involves regular inspections for any signs of wear or damage. Additionally, cleaning the components periodically not only keeps them looking good but also ensures their functionality. Keep the joints lubricated and check the tightness of bolts after any long rides to ensure everything stays securely in place for safe riding.

Are there any color options for these forward controls?

TCMT Forward Controls typically come in a selection of finishes, including chrome and black, allowing riders to choose based on their bike's aesthetic. Selecting a color that complements or contrasts with your Harley Sportster can enhance the visual appeal. This personal touch lets every rider customize their bike to match their individual style, making it truly unique.
