What are the key features of the XFMT Clear Detachable Quick Release Windshield?

The XFMT Clear Detachable Quick Release Windshield features a crystal-clear polycarbonate construction, ensuring excellent visibility while riding. Its quick-release setup allows for easy installation and removal, making it convenient for riders who prefer riding without a windshield on certain occasions. The black bracket complements the sleek design of Harley Touring Road King models from 1994 to 2023, providing a stylish and functional addition to your motorcycle. Whether you're commuting or touring, this windshield helps deflect wind and reduce fatigue for a more comfortable ride.

Is the XFMT Windshield compatible with all Harley Touring models?

This XFMT Windshield is specifically designed for Harley Touring Road King FLHR models from 1994 to 2023. While it will not fit other models directly, it ensures a flawless fit for the specified series by utilizing OEM mounting points. If you own a different Harley model, it’s crucial to check compatibility before purchase, as using a windshield designed for a specific model can enhance performance, stability, and aesthetics.

How does the detachable feature work?

The detachable feature of the XFMT Windshield allows riders to switch between using a windshield and riding 'naked' quickly and conveniently. It utilizes a system of mounting brackets that can be easily released with a simple mechanism. To detach, you only need to pull the release levers, and the windshield comes off without any tools. This feature is particularly useful for riders who enjoy the freedom of open air on shorter rides and prefer the protection of a shield during longer journeys.

Does the XFMT windshield affect the motorcycle's aerodynamics?

Yes, the XFMT windshield is designed to improve motorcycle aerodynamics by reducing wind resistance while riding. Its shape and height are engineered to direct airflow over the rider rather than hitting them directly, which helps minimize fatigue during long rides. Improved aerodynamics can lead to a more stable ride and an overall enhanced riding experience, especially when traveling at higher speeds or on the highway.

Can I install the XFMT Windshield myself?

Yes, installing the XFMT Windshield is straightforward and can typically be done by riders with basic mechanical skills. The product comes with all necessary mounting hardware and clear instructions. A few tools may be required, but the quick-release mechanism simplifies the process. Many riders find this flexibility beneficial, as it allows them to modify their bike based on their journey or personal preference.

What is the weight of the XFMT Clear Windshield?

The XFMT Clear Windshield is lightweight, weighing approximately 10-15 lbs, making it manageable for easy handling and installation. This design choice contributes to a better ride overall, as a heavier windshield can affect the balance and handling of your motorcycle. The reduced weight ensures that your bike remains responsive while still providing the necessary wind protection during your rides.

What maintenance does the XFMT windshield require?

Maintaining the XFMT windshield involves simple care practices to maintain visibility and clarity. Regular cleaning with mild soap and water helps remove dirt and debris. It’s important to avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as they can scratch the polycarbonate surface. Keeping the windshield clean will ensure optimal performance and enhance the overall aesthetics of your motorcycle.

Does the XFMT Windshield provide UV protection?

Yes, the XFMT Clear Windshield provides a level of UV protection due to its polycarbonate material. This aspect is particularly beneficial for riders who spend extended periods outdoors, as it helps to reduce glare and protect the rider from harmful sun exposure. While the windshield does not eliminate all UV rays, it contributes to a safer and more comfortable riding experience under direct sunlight.

What is the thickness of the XFMT windshield?

The XFMT windshield boasts a thickness of approximately 4mm, which adds to its durability and resistance to impact. This thickness ensures that the windshield can withstand the rigors of the road without easily cracking or breaking, further enhancing its longevity. A sturdy windshield contributes positively to the overall safety and performance of your Harley, allowing you to travel with confidence.
