Made in Germany, this honing steel is shaped like a rod with a sharp and slightly rough surface. Its handle is made of a durable thermoplastic material. The steel's surface is ideal for aligning and honing knife edges, making them sharper and more efficient. For optimum results, you should use it at a 20-degree angle and alternate sides ten times each. While this isn't a sharpening tool per se, it does help in regular blade maintenance and can extend the lifespan of your kitchen knives Considerably. If you are serious about sharpening your knives, though, you should use a sharpening stone instead. One of the best things about this honing steel is its lifetime guarantee. Although it is unlikely to wear out, there's a guarantee in case it ever does.
