The Makita Half Sheet Finishing Sander is of excellent quality made in Japan. It has a smoothe operation, easy to operate and maneuver. Changing and installing sandpaper mechanism is very thoughtful off by the manufacturer. Vacuum ports work great and the dust collection is very effective when attached to a vacuum. It is smooth and quiet, with very little vibration. The lockdowns are metal, but the release levers for the lockdowns are plastic. The foot is not perfectly flat. Customers have also praised that it is easy to use traditional sandpaper with the hook and loop pad remaining in place. However, it is recommended to purchase a punch plate to be able to use your shopvac with the regular sandpaper. The dust collector on this sander works well, but requires purchasing disposable bags.
